The Connecticut Association of Land Surveyors (CALS) has recently published a 33 page booklet of authoritative tidal data entitled “Resources for Tidal and Navigable Waters in Connecticut”.  The booklet contains a complete range of tidal elevations for every tidal town in Connecticut, including the Connecticut, Housatonic and Thames rivers.  The tidal elevations include coastal jurisdiction line (CJL), mean high water (MHW), mean low water (MLW) and mean range (MR).  There is detailed information on how the CJL was created and computed as well as the background information for all published elevations, and NOAA resources on the internet.  A separate section explains how to determine ordinary high water on the non-tidal portion of Connecticut’s only navigable river, The Connecticut River, from the head of tide north to the Massachusetts border.

This book, written by John J. Doody, P.S., P.E., was published in October 2012. It is available through the CALS office at a price of $10 for CALS members and $20 for non-members.
